MINES AND QUARRIES (CONTROL OF BUILDINGS, ETC.) ACT

An Act to make provisions for the control of buildings or other structure used in connection with mines or quarries.

[Commencement.]

1. Control of building or other structure used in connection with mines  or quarries

(1) As from the commencement of this Act, any building or other structure used only in or in conjunction with the extraction of minerals from a mine or quarry shall be deemed not to be a factory for the purposes of the Factories Act and such building or other structure shall be subject to the direction and control of the Chief Inspector of Mines; and the Factories Act shall have effect as hereby amended.

(2) In this section, unless the context otherwise requires-

"mine" has the like meaning as is assigned thereto by section 259 of the Minerals and Mining Act;

"quarry" has the like meaning as in section 232 of the Minerals and Mining Act.

2. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Mines and Quarries (Control of Buildings, etc.) Act.
